Working with monotype press processes, we will develop an understanding in the power of mark-making and composition. Design concepts covered: line, mark, shape, texture and tone; elements related to dynamic mark-making with monotype press techniques.

EXPRESSIVE LANDSCAPES
SEATTLE STUDIO
We will use many tools in a ‘fact finding’ mission, discovering the ‘power of a place’ through drawing and painting. Sketches, paintings, drawings + collages will be created of the landscape; creating evocative works, furthering a concept of ‘place’; utilizing tools of watercolor, pastel, charcoal, etching press (monotype) and graphite.

GATHERING EVIDENCE
MAZAMA, WASHINGTON USA
In this workshop, we will begin by observing the environment of the Methow Valley in Washington State and its surrounding context: to learn about the ‘power of place’ through drawing and painting. Field trips each day in the surrounding area for gathering evidence and experiencing the Methow Valley.
A small group of 12 participants provides opportunities for plenty of one-on-one learning, lessons, critiques, and demos.
